Frequently Asked Questions About Speaker Reel Videos
Service Basics
These terms are often used interchangeably, but there are subtle differences. A speaker reel is the general term for a professional video that showcases your speaking ability. A speaker demo reel focuses specifically on your keynote presentations — it shows event organizers your stage presence, delivery, and message. A speaker sizzle reel is shorter and more energetic, designed to create excitement in the first 30–60 seconds. In practice, most speakers need a demo reel as their primary tool. Whatever you call it, the goal is the same — a professional video that gets you booked. I edit all of these.
The sweet spot is 2–3 minutes for most speakers. Shorter than that and you risk not showing enough range. Longer than 3 minutes and you start losing the viewer's attention — event organizers are busy people reviewing dozens of reels. A 1-minute cut can work well as a social media version, but it is too short to stand alone as your main reel. A 4–5 minute reel is only justified if you have a large variety of high-quality footage from multiple events. When in doubt, keep it tight. A focused 2-minute reel will always outperform a bloated 5-minute one.
I am an editor only. You provide the footage — from conferences, events, presentations, or any speaking engagement — and I edit it into a professional speaker reel video. I do not do videography or on-location shooting. This is actually what makes the service cost-effective. You do not need to pay for a full production crew. If you have footage, you have everything you need to get started.
A speaker reel video cannot be created without footage of you actually speaking. A talking-head video recorded at home may open a few doors, but it does not carry the same credibility as real stage footage. Event organizers want to see you commanding a room — an audience reacting, people engaged, you in your element on stage. If you have no footage yet, the best path is to speak at local events, workshops, or community engagements and record those. Even phone camera footage from a small event can work. Once you have material, reach out and we will assess what is usable.
Most video editors work across all kinds of projects — commercials, music videos, corporate content, social media clips. I did the same when I started out. Over time I realised that true value comes from deep specialisation, not broad availability. So I made a decision to work exclusively on speaker video projects. That focus means I understand the speaking industry, I know what event organizers and speaker bureaus look for, and I bring genuine insight to every edit — not just technical skill. When you work with me, you are not getting a generalist who happens to edit speaker reels. You are getting someone who does this and only this.
Process & Timeline
Most projects are completed within 5 working days. However, because I work with multiple clients at a time, the standard delivery window is 7–10 days. This gives me time to give your project the full attention it deserves without rushing. If you have a specific deadline or need the video urgently, let me know upfront and I will do my best to accommodate. Rush delivery may be available depending on my current schedule.
Absolutely. Every project includes free revisions — the exact number will be outlined in the quote I send you. No offer will ever come without revision rounds included. I also save your project files after delivery. This means if you want to update your reel a year from now — add new footage, refresh the opening, or update your branding — we can do that without starting from scratch. Your project stays on file for future use.
I keep communication simple and flexible. Most clients reach out to me on LinkedIn and we continue the conversation there. Email works just as well — you can reach me at contact@gusaimedia.com. If you prefer WhatsApp, that is an option too. For projects booked through platforms like Contra, communication stays within that platform's inbox. You choose what works best for you and we go from there.
Pricing & Deliverables
The cost depends on a few things — the amount of footage to review and edit, the final length of the reel, the resolution you need (Full HD or 4K), and any additional deliverables like a social media cut or thumbnail. Because every project is different, I do not list fixed prices. Reach out with your project details and I will send you a personalised quote within 12 hours.
The standard delivery format is MP4, which works across all platforms and devices — websites, LinkedIn, YouTube, and everything in between. If you need the file in MOV or any other format, just let me know and I will accommodate that. You will always receive a high-quality export ready to use immediately.
Yes, absolutely. Your speaker reel video is yours to use anywhere — your website, LinkedIn, YouTube, speaker proposals, bureau submissions, anywhere. One thing worth mentioning: if you plan to upload to YouTube, let me know during the project. I will include a custom thumbnail with your delivery so your video looks professional from the first impression on the platform.
The number of included revisions will be clearly stated in the quote you receive. Every quote includes at least a standard number of revision rounds — no project is ever delivered without them. If you need more revisions beyond what is included, we can discuss an adjusted rate. The goal is always to get the video exactly right, so I work closely with you throughout the revision process to make sure we get there.
Results & Guarantees
What I can tell you is this — a professionally edited speaker reel video significantly increases your chances of getting booked. Event organizers and speaker bureaus rely on reels to make hiring decisions. A strong reel gets you considered. A weak one gets you skipped. I focus on making sure yours does its job — clear message, professional quality, the right pacing, and a style that represents you authentically. The speakers I have worked with use their reels in every proposal and bureau submission. Whether you get booked ultimately depends on your speaking topic, positioning, and how actively you are putting the reel in front of the right people. My job is to make sure the reel itself is never the reason you do not get the call.
We work through revisions together until the video is exactly what you envisioned. After the first draft, you give me your feedback — what you love, what you want changed, what feels off — and I refine it from there. I am thorough with revisions and take your feedback seriously. Do not just take my word for it — read what past clients have said on the [Testimonials page].
Yes. Whether you are an individual speaker, a speaking agent, or a bureau managing a full roster, I am happy to work with you. For bureaus and organizations with multiple speakers, volume arrangements are available. Get in touch and we can discuss what works best for your setup.
Logistics
I work with speakers worldwide. Because the entire process is remote — you send footage digitally, I edit and deliver online — location is never a barrier. Most of my clients are based in the USA, but I regularly work with speakers from Canada, the UK, Australia, and beyond. Wherever you are, we can make it work.
Simply reach out through the contact form on this page or email me at contact@gusaimedia.com. Once you get in touch, I will guide you through everything — what footage to gather, how to send it, and what information I need to get started. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Just make contact and we will take it from there together.
Yes, definitely. If you want a voiceover or narration added to your speaker reel video, just mention it when you reach out. We will discuss the style and tone that fits your brand, and I will handle it as part of the project. It is a great way to add context or a stronger opening hook to your reel.
